So.. Basically, i was planning to paint my Deck Francium, which is pretty much a QFR without the rubberised coating on the top frame, and was going to grab some Rust-Oleum Painters Touch Gloss White and Gloss Blue.
Was going to do about 3-5 coats and do two blue racing stripes along the right side of the frame, where the arrow cluster is.
A couple questions before i massacre the top of my board,
1: Is sanding/prepping necessary for paint/primer to stick to the plastic? Its incredibly smooth, like glass at the moment, and have read that sanding is only necessary if there is residue paint from a previous project or if there is a coating. (Rubber for the QFR.)
2. Will primer give me a better result? Saving time/effort/money isnt necessary at all at the moment, and i just want a perfect result that i can be proud of, and wont have to constantly repaint after a few months.
3. Ive heard some horror stories with Matte Clear Coats with the coating becoming cloudy and making the whole thing look terrible, so, if any of you are familiar with the Rust-Oleum line of paints, are coats necessary?
4. For the racing stripe in gloss blue on the side, could i simply paint the stripes with some painters tape on the already white surface? or should i put tape to prevent the white paint getting onto those spots first, then simply paint it in blue? (If that was a little difficult, should i paint the blue on the white surface or on the non-painted plastic body?)
Sorry for the long post, i just have zero experience spray painting anything meaningful, and wanted the best result i could, without cutting corners or giving it a chance to mess up.
