What are the best springs?

Hey Geekhack,
I'm making my first keyboard and was wondering what the best springs are. Do gold springs make much of a difference or are they just a gimmick? How do Korean springs compare? I don't know what other springs are out there but that's why I'm directing this question at my favourite group of keyboard enthusiasts 

Also, to clarify, this is regardless of weight, I'm just wondering what the best type of springs are.

Syrian's gold springs from kbdmania have been the best feeling in my experience. The weight is slightly inaccurate but they're sharp and crisp to touch with no fatigue.

Stock springs are stock... nothing to say about them. They're fine for most purposes.

Sprit's gold are pretty nice too, a little softer.

The regular 62gs I tried (forget who makes them) felt a little light and inconsistent.

Syrian's original gold springs just felt springier if that makes sense. They weren't true to weight and a bit on the heavier side but it turned out to work very well

edit: oh and vintage springs are super soft and smooth, good for non tactile stems in my opinion.

Syrian was a member of kbdmania and ran the first gb for gold springs. I got mine 2nd hand from someone else so I don't even know how to get them anymore if even possible

Yeah, because at the moment I'm looking at these http://www.originativeco.com/products/springs?variant=7096426245 Korean springs unless I'm convinced that there is a better option.

I have observed that Cherry stock springs have more coils per length unit, than Gateron and the gold springs are somewhat in the middle, that means that the tensile strength of the wire is compensated to accommodate a particular spring module based on coils per length unit and overall spring length. The shorter feels better to me. My two cents.

Are you sure that it's not just because you like gold?

Consider also the fact that 45gr cherry springs are equivalent to maybe 55gr of the Korean ones. It's not that Koreans want to appear stronger, but simply that cherry are measured on actuation and Koreans on bottoming out.

The gold colored plating adds about a half a gram or so to the weight from what I recall.  As far as the debate on plated vs non, and which weight, nothing is better than any other, unless they are not tempered properly that they break.  But personally my favorite springs are the stock clear springs.  All the force curves I have seen for springs, are about the same spring rate, just start higher or lower on the graph, but all ramp up very close to the same rate.  The one exception is clear springs.  They ramp up MUCH faster.  This is what I like about them.  Again, your mileage WILL vary, as everyone's personal taste is different.  Pick up a switch tester and go from there as far as spring weights.
