Leopold dying or Software related problem?

Recently my Leopold 660M started to have a really annoying issue: every now and then a bunch of the keys die. However, after pressing them for a while (can vary between 0.5-5seconds) the buttons are functional again. I exchanged the cable, replaced USB software, did a bunch of updates, yet the problem still occurs. Considering the inconsistency of this problem I highly doubt that its a simple hardware defect. Trying the board on other computers is also borderline impossible because of the inconsistency of the issue.

The 'defect' buttons are left shift, T, Z, X, C, M, /, right shift as well as the up- and right arrow keys. One notable detail is that all of them die at the exact same time. As soon as 1 of them dies, all the other listed buttons do as well. However, as soon as one of them is back, all of them are. I am at a bit of a loss here because I dont really know how to deal with this issue or how to fix it. Especially since all these keys seem to be somehow connected.

It sounds like a bad solder trace. I don't know the matrix of that keyboard but I'll bet all those keys are on the same column or row. If the bad connection fails, all those keys stop.

I think you just need to have a good look at the circuit board.

+1 bad trace on PCB.

Is this keyboard still under warranty?  Might be easier to RMA it than trying to diagnose and fix it yourself.

Never had anything like that with all my previous 660M models.

The new 2015 one i got behave just like you said (kind of), but only on the FN layer on Ps/2.
Having keys registering on the FN layer (F1-F12 etc...) require double tap while holding the FN key (it will consistently work with double tap), only very rarely will work with one tap, and the print screen simply doesn't work.

However Once it's plugged on USB, the keyboard is flawless, every keys work perfectly.

I don't know if it's my little PS/2 adapter, or the keyboard itself.
