Are the Noppoo Choc Mini Brown Switches made by Cherry?
« on: Wed, 06 January 2016, 01:07:37 »
Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post here.

I had a Choc Mini with red switches about a year and a half ago and I really liked the thick POM keycaps on it. Recently I have been thinking about buying a new one with brown switches, but I noticed on the Amazon page for the brown switch model it doesn't explicitly say that the brown switches are Cherry MX, although it does on the page for the one with red switches, and on the page for the model with browns it says it uses "German technology". Here is a link to the page: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0091Q34EI?keywords=noppoo%20choc%20mini&psc=1&qid=1452063029&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1-spons

In the listing it calls them "Original Noppoo mechanical Brown Switch". I did some googling and came across this page: http://www.apoctv.com/2014/01/review-noppoo-lolita-prototype.html that says Noppoo is using their own in house brown switch for another model of theirs called the Lolita. I also came across this page: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Gateron-Shaft-Noppoo-Choc-Mini-84-POM-Black-Keycaps-Wired-Gaming-Keyboard-Red-Black-Blue-Brown/32447217479.html that says they have Gateron switches.

Anyone here know what type of switch I'll be getting if i buy a Choc Mini with "brown" switches from that Amazon listing?

Thanks for the reply. I realize that the model with the red switches says Cherry MX, but when you switch to the model with brown switches the description changes and it doesn't mention them being Cherry MX switches at all.

I just came across this page: https://corus-kb.com/en/choc-mini-84/13-noppoo-choc-mini-84-usb-nkro.html selling the noppoo choc mini that lists all the different switch options and there isn't an option for cherry mx brown switches, so it looks like the browns on the amazon listing are going to be Gaterons. Guess I answered my own question.
