Hello everybody, glad to be here!
« on: Sun, 10 January 2016, 00:41:51 »
Hello, I am very excited to learn more about mechanical keyboards, and I have already learned a lot over the past week just reading the forum here. I am currently waiting on the delivery of my first 60% keyboard and am interested in getting to learn the ins and outs of it!

Welcome to Geekhack!

Which keyboard have you ordered?  An HHKB?

There's a lot more to keyboards than most people realise ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Ha, you guessed it! I got a good deal on it and am excited to try it out. First time with MX Blues as well,  though I've tried them out before. I'm hoping for less errors compared to my MX Reds right now. (Its an OG K70  :( )

Sorry, I got a deal on the Pok3r with MX Blues, I'm excited to try it out!

I would love to try Topre keys sometime but haven't had the chance yet.
Plus a HHKB is out of my price range for now. I Don't want to straight up murder my wallet  ;D

I think you'll enjoy the pok3r, it's a solid board and popular for a reason.  LEDs or no LEDs? As for your wallet, you'll get around to murdering it sooner or later.
Hopefully there will be a meetup close to you where you can try Topre out.
Last of all, welcome to GH!

No LEDs for now, though I have read you can add your own later. (I've done small electronics soldering before)

Thank you for the warm welcome, everybody here seems very kind and welcoming.

Np, I've actually got the pok3r which I added LEDs to myself.  I bought 200 LEDs from aliexpress for only a few bucks.  Shoot me a pm if you've got any questions.   :thumb:

That's cool - a Pok3r is one of the most popular MX 60% boards :)
