Shine 5 loose switch?

Hello!

As many of you might have seen, I recently recieved my ducky shine 5 and I am very happy with. I thought my back space sounded off and so when I removed the cap, it seems the switch can wiggle in it's place. other keys don't. Now I ordered my Shine 5 from MK.com and RMA is probably a headache for me and expensive. Does anyone know how I can remedy this on my own? is it a simple solution or will it involve expertise I don't have. Keep In mind, I am fairly new to MKs but I do like to self educate.

I don't think I've heard of a loose switch before.

These switches are so small that there isn't much that could cause it to wobble around.

You could, of course, desolder the switch and solder in a replacement switch (assuming that, perhaps, it had not been soldered in properly, installation by machine of the keycap pushed the switch housing down and caused the pins to ... I dunno, dislodge inside the switch or something, which sounds unlikely).

But that WOULD void your warranty.

TO maintain warranty, maybe try communicating with MK.com and ask if you can get a local electronics repair place to fix it for you and retain the warranty in case something else major goes wrong.

I have contacted MK, still waiting on a reply. My friend ordered one and it doesn't have the problem. Maybe I did not describe it properly, but if i remove the backspace cap. the switch with brown stem, can move in the square shape its in. Even though it is super minor movement, best term I can use is loose. other keys don't have that. I think that's what makes it weird when I press backspace. My board came with 4 problems, other 3 are minor and I can live with. This one annoys me a little, but RMA and shipping it back is just costly. Any who, Ill wait to hear back from MK.

Yeah, that (quality issue) sounds irregular for Ducky, and knowing that, they (MK) will RMA the thing for ya and hopefully pay (or recompense you) for shipping to and from.

My shine 5 has the same super small movement in the backspace just like you describe and it's 100% perfectly fine.
I think your problem isn't the switch.  It's probably the stabilizers.

A lot of keys on my shine 5 have micromm movement and they all work just fine.

I just tested my shine 5 for you.
Backspace: small movement.
Numpad+: small movement
Numpad enter: small movement.
numpad minus (no movement)
L key: very small movement.

No Not ghosts and I am afraid that statement is unfair.

I bought two shine 5s. I love the board. I wasn't in anyway down playing how AMAZING this board is. How ever. Let's make a clear distinction. I am not saying micro movement in the caps. I am taking about the switch it self. Remove the cap and the switch moves in it's place. Nothing to do with the stabilizer because the backspace on one board is perfectly fine and the switch is firm in it's place.

You are correct in saying it works fine, BUT, it sounds really weird. I compare the two boards and it sounds bad. also since I use my pinky to press the backspace often in the leftest most part of the key and not the center it sometimes doesn't register. This isn't an issue on the other board.

There is also a number of quality defects I have, I attached some proof. Buttons are not cut properly. the row with the volume button isn't even aligned at the center. Does it work? Absolutely? but if I pay a premium for a board I expect premium quality.

Now ask me would I recommend this board ? YES.
How much would I rate it? 11/10

Why? Because I have two (one is for a sister/friend) and I am an honest guy. I opened mine and used it. I din't swap it to her when I i realized hers is 100% on QC while mine wasn't. Life is such and sometimes you get a bad pick. Now I am sure Ducky and MK, who both have excellent service would be willing to replace the board. BUT, the RMA cost of shipping for me doesnt justify my 5% loss of satisfaction for using the board. As you clearly mention the board is 100% functional.

It is a principal, for me. When I pay for something I expect my money's worth. I think I got my money's worth. It is my first MK and i love it with all that I have. It's not perfect but its mine However even though I believe in ghosts, not afraid of them at all.

Then I mis read m8, but you also missed the part I am saying the same movement doesn't occur in the other shine 5. In the same button. I explained why I might find that to be deterring but like we both agree keyboard is 100% functional.

Also you seem to know the boards, do you feel the edges and other issue I posted are common? Like I stated, only having this issue one of the boards.

Also it is very difficult to convey tone, so Just so I am clear , I appreciate you taking the time to respond and guide me
