Replacement Keycaps for Steekseries 7G
« on: Thu, 26 November 2009, 14:29:54 »
Hello guys, first post here so be nice :)

Anyway I've got a steel series 7G, which is proberly a terrible keyboard, but I got it really cheep.

I'm looking to replace it which blank black keycaps but I don't know where to shop. I'm from the UK btw, so a uk vendor would be a lot better.

I know it uses Black Cherry switches if thats any use.

Cheers

Do you mean fully blank keycaps, or printed black ones? And I assume that this keyboard is a UK layout one?

The Steelseries are pretty good boards for gaming, but most consider the Black switches to be too stiff for regular typing.

It is a UK layout and I'm looking for totaly blank, but I'm thinking that black with black print on it would be more practical.

Afaik there are no blank UK layout keys easily available anywhere. As for ANSI layout the Majestouch ones should fit the 7G fine:

Black-on-Black is only available from China so far, international status on that is yet pending.

We just got Cherry MX3000 105 into stock - black, black switches and blank tops. Sweet - they are.

I assume you don't sell the keycaps seperately to the keyboard itself?

Nice, be sure to let us know once you add these to the website. Had been waiting for these to popup quite a while :)

Certainly will. We're flu affected in the web dept but soon - and then i'll post on vendor forum, there's a few goodies coming along.
Will see if I can find out anything regarding the Steelseries too, though not confident on that one. Filco or Cherry blanks are going to be best bet if they look and feel OK.

The Steelseries is basically a Costar Cherry Black board with a headphone pass-through and possibly USB hub...
