ALps Prices

With the new hype for alps does anyone find this insane?

a blue alps board sold for 350+ a few days ago too. So to all people who own orange or blue alps or other rare alps switches you might want to sell them now lol.

Wat

Other than not having a yellowed case, wtf is so special about this AEK? When I was buying AEK's they were typically under $100 even for ones in excellent shape

no-one cares for damped cream alps? i think they totally crush MX browns.

still don't really like them, though.. i think?
to me it's just such an awkward kind of tactility.
it just feels artificial, but not really in a good way. i guess that doesn't make sense.
yeah.. awkward.

What on earth, $500 for an AEK? I wonder if the winner actually paid.

Edit: I messaged the seller asking if the winner paid, and this was the response:

Im guessing it's the orange alps

No, that is an AEK2 with 1990 copyright so it is almost surely dampened cream.

AEK (1s) with serial numbers <500K probably have orange and >500K are likely salmon.

Also, I would describe that as "lightly to moderately yellowed" I have seen many that were far far worse.

As George Orwell put it:
Journalism is printing what someone else does not want printed; everything else is public relations.

I don't think you can compare MX Browns and Dampened White ALPS, the ALPS are very heavy and very tactile, MX Browns are very light with minimal tactility.

The Japanese drove up the price of vintage Les Pauls, Strats and Hawaii real estate.  I hope they don't do the same with ALPS keyboards.
