May be better to purchase from "The Usual Guy", you might appreciate more if it is unused. Just put in a Max Bid of $200 at end of auction and you're probably a guaranteed winner. Be careful though, depending on your locality, you might have to pay Tax on item.

he is saying put in $200 so that you will surely win it, because the 2nd highest (and realistic) bidder will be under that, and ebay only makes you pay just over the 2nd highest bidder

...for instance, putting in the most you are willing to pay, the absolute maximum you would give for the item, assuming someone else is looking at it and will 1-up you every chance he gets until he gets to HIS maximum.

since that is what ebay is.

I only placed the Max Bid of $200 out of the frustration of been outbid twice by "More Money Than Sense". Only paid $149, but had a surprise VAT Billing on delivery.
Never thought I have more lessons to learn at my humble age.

Am I reading too much into this, or is the OP in this thread the seller of that item?

If so, suggestions to buy elsewhere are...uh...well I'm sure you see the issue.

Edit: this had been directed exclusively at J888www because of his recommendation to buy one somewhere else, and how the OP had mentioned "I want a Geekhack member buys this so I can feel better" which suggests it is him selling it

can't you read my posting? I said it is not me.
If I was the seller I would said so.

do you need proof? :

If you check the previous thread regarding cheap cherry brown switch keyboard you can find out the first bidder is my account. That is my only ebay account which I bought 1st one.
I don't understand why is it so hard to understand about "I want a Geekhack member buys this so I can feel better" statement.
Ok, I will not post any suggestion in this forum anymore then. Happy now?

I don't sell keyboards , FULL STOP   Also "The usual Guy" is a Woman by the name of Trixie P****. I was merely suggesting that there may be more satisfaction in purchasing a KBD knowing that no other paws had mauled over it.

Why would I spend $200 on a KBD then try to sell it for less ???     If I can afford to pay that amount of cash for a KBE, I have no need for petty cash.
Also mine is **NIB**

Unless I'm mistaken, the insinuation is that "little ol me " and OP are the same same person  ?

Your concern for the well-being for other members are noted and appreciated. I can assure you that I manage quite well on my limited pension without the need to waste what little time I have left in making dimes and pennies.
There aren't many kind and helpful people left in this World, most people are avariciously self-centered, maybe people like Op are becoming extinct.

ATM, it seems the same person is bidding for both IBM minis, the one without the Logo and the NIB.
I have feeling that this may be the "More money than sense" who outbid little ol me, twice.
