CM Quickfire XT wobbly case issue
« on: Sat, 06 February 2016, 10:32:55 »
Hello everyone!

I bought a new Quickfire XT and noticed that the bottom of the case is protruding outwards and can be moved by hand easily. What I'm interested in, is whether this is a symptom of some more serious issue internally (mounting, missing screw, etc.) or just a fit and finish issue with the plastic case. I live in a tiny village surrounded by a national park, so shipping or taking it back is a pain in the ass, and I would just keep this one if this is only a cosmetic issue. I'm never touching that part of the keyboard and there is no resonance, vibration or any other issue, the keyboard feel solid, maybe even more so than my QFR.

I made a video of the problem with my freshly peeled potato:

Thank you for the help in advance!

I believe it's normal. I have the same keyboard and mine has the same wobble also.

It's also not a missing screw or mounting issue because there aren't any screws there holding the case.
I took mine apart in order to paint it. There are only 3 screws at the back of the keyboard. 2 of them are under the feets and 3rd one is under 'O. K Do Not Remove' label. Other than those screws there are 4 latches at both side of the top frame to connect it to the bottom part of it's case.

In this video you can also see how top frame is attached. It is not exactly XT model but the frame design is almost same.

It seems that mine does the same thing, maybe not quite as badly. It hasn't been an issue in the >2 years I've had the keyboard

Thank you both for your answers! I'm glad, that apparently this is only a minor issue, I just found it weird, since the Quickfire Rapid is basically the same keyboard (also made by Costar) and that one doesn't have this issue. I would fix it (I do serious modding on my mice), but my keyboard still came with a 3 year warranty, which I wouldn't like to lose by opening it up.
