Hello fellow kids
« on: Tue, 16 February 2016, 05:46:08 »
I came across this site in my quest to get some blank pbt keycaps for my QWERTY ISO UK POK3R 3
Where do I begin looking for this? - this is pretty confusing

Hello and welcome, I hope you will stay around for other stuff than keycaps, but looking in the Group Buys section is a good start.

Welcome :thumb:

ukkeycaps.co.uk has some, but it really depends on the color. Not many ISO PBT sets exist, that's why I switched to ANSI.

Welcome. Sorry I don't give out free candy  Pimpmykeyboards.com might be a good start depending on your local. Seems that people are divided on the quality of Signature Plastic's key caps, definitely group buys here and possibly massdrop.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Looking for an ISO set is going to be slightly more difficult, but at least you want blank, which conversely makes it a bit easier (ISO legends can be a bit spotty on the extra keycaps ISO layouts have for different regions).

What profile do you want?  OEM?  Cherry?  DSA?

Do you want really blank, or will engraved suffice?  Ducky make some nice engraved sets, where the legends are engraved into the upper surface and are nearly invisible unless the light hits the keycaps just right.

It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Welcome :thumb:

ukkeycaps.co.uk has some, but it really depends on the color. Not many ISO PBT sets exist, that's why I switched to ANSI.

I order the ANSI/ISO UK Tai-Hao Sunshine set (have ANSI Tai-Hao Miami set) for some time ago, most for the ANSI set for my ANSI k-boards even if I have some ISO/Nordic k-boards.

We have 1 shop here in here Sweden that sells some ISO/Nordic keycaps sets, ABS.

7 sets are from WASD and 1 set are from Ducky:

http://www.maxgaming.se/keycaps

So no more ISO layout for me.

rowdy

I bought 2  Ducky ISO/Nordic sets (not blanks) 2014 here in Sweden:

The Grey/Blue laser engraved set and the Yellow Dye set, now you can't buy them in Sweden anymore, the only places I know now is Mechanicalkeyboards.com and sometimes on Massdrop but only in ANSI layout.

Mechanical Keyboards is fairly responsive - you could try sending the a message/email and ask if they can get ISO sets in again.

You misunderstood me,  what I mean was: You should be lucky if you can find the Ducky Grey/Blue, Yellow Dye sets in ISO/UK layout in a shop in UK now. You can't find the 2 ISO/Nordic sets in a swedish shop anymore.

Some folks have ask me if I'm gonna sell this 2 sets.

I don't think Mechanicalkeyboards will do that.

I got my 2 ISO sets from this shop here in Sweden 2014, now they only have this set: http://www.inet.se/produkt/6607452/ducky-shine4-key-cap-109-abs-set-red

But I don't count this shop for sellin keycaps sets so we only have this shop left:

http://www.maxgaming.se/keycaps

I'm usin ANSI k-boards now, bought my first ANSI k-board in  summer 2014 from Mechanicalkeyboards.com. So for me the ISO layout is dead.

There's some nice coloured sets at that second link.  UV coated?  Are these Tai Hao, by any chance?

What I have heard from some people, the 7 nice coloured keycaps sets are  from WASD.

Hmmm they look way more vibrant than I remember WASD keycaps being.

I guess WASD keys are ok to start with? I totally missed that guane is looking for blank PBT.

I know for sure that Pimpmykeyboard has blank ISO PBT keys in DSA profile.. the caveat is they charge $9 for the ISO set. So you would have to order alphas/modifiers/ISO set. I think that is right.

From what I've seen WASD has a bunch of pastel colors that people like to order. Kind of neat if you're into that I guess.
