I've never hit over 130, 140 is pretty damn good. What board/switches do you use generally?

On average I'm between 70-90

That typing test doesn't use proper sentences though so it could really throw it off.

When I used to use my right index for spacebar it maxed out at 141 (typeracer). Could go higher but the number of mistakes was getting a bit up there. To top it off, I was only using two of my fingers on my right hand, so you could imagine how awkward it would've been at those speeds.

Changed it to a style where I try to use both thumbs about 2 months ago, I gave Typeracer a go for a giggle last week and managed 110.

These days accuracy over long periods of time turns me on more than how fast I can type.

edit - oops didn't see the other thread :V

Normally 90-100 on 10fastfingers, 101 peak. I think I can type faster outside of typing tests, though, at least a little bit. Having to read each word slows me down and if I try to look ahead I just end up typing a word ahead

Just a few days ago I took my first typing speed test in 13ish years (since business sys. tech. classes via high school). I'm interested in what some practice, and a mech board will do to that speed.

83 on my HHKB and 85 on my Ducky - I used to max out at 90-ish but I've slowed down on Qwerty since switching to Dvorak. Not to mention, I've messed around with the layout of my HHKB slightly - I've flipped the 2nd and 3rd rows from the top - so I'm not quite used to it yet. Working on improving it. Typing on my Ducky is proving difficult nowadays because I'm so used to the backspace positioning on the HHKB.

Generally 95-101, 85-90 in the early hours if I haven't had coffee yet. I'd enjoy testing speeds with different styles of keycaps.

In German: ~125 (best: 134) and in English about 100 on 10ff.
I'm currently in the transition of using thumbs for space and not my right index finger.. i hope that will increase it a little bit more.

On topic, I'm usually high 60s to low 70s with a PB of 82.

My average is about 100, if I swap to a different keyboard it goes down to 90ish, but after an adjustment period it'll be back at 100 again. Can't seem to get over that.

Lots of you are mentioning HHKBs. Is this topic only about typing speeds on HHKBs? Is there something about HHKBs that enable people to type unusually fast? Is it possible that the smaller the KB, the faster you can go? I would've thought it the other way around—don't you have to use multi-key shortcuts for everything that was left out? That'd slow me down.

But there's also the adrenaline you'd be getting from typing on such an obviously cool, hip KB. And if you're in an office, there'd be the nervous energy, wondering when the next person was going to stop at your desk and say "Oh, what a cute little keyboard!", or ask you how on earth you can get by with so few keys and expect you to explain it for the nth time. And of course if you had to move your keyboard from place to place as part of your work, having such a smaller, lighter one would leave you with more energy for typing. Yes, I can see how there could be a significant chemical factor here.

Anyway, I average 105. But that's on Dvorak, which may be cheating. But I'm also on buckling springs, so that probably slows me down commensurately. Fortunately, I don't have to move it around—but then, I don't have anyone stopping in my home office asking about it, either. Of course, fewer people would ask about an IBM than an HHKB. It all seems to balance out.

I think Sifo is the fastest (or among the fastest) that I've seen.

uhm... there used to be like a 20 wpm difference between my using clears (faster) and blacks (slower) but now that I've gotten used to blacks I think I could actually type faster, even though it's not as comfortable or enjoyable for me. TP4 wrote a blurb on why blacks are theoretically the fastest switch for typing.

But I'm most consistent with 62g clears because it's what I've typed on for who knows how many years now.

I have blues at work and can hit 150+ with ease (i'll do a test right now actually since I just rebuilt my lightsaver hold on...ok so i got 153 wpm with 3 mistakes)

I have videos of me typing over at http://youtubeplaylists.sifo.ca
