Model M label restoration?
« on: Sat, 12 March 2016, 15:17:32 »
Hey,

my Model M's label is falling to pieces, and I'd like to replace it with a 'new' copy of the label.

I remember seeing something of the sort on a KB forum previously, does anyone know where I could find a link to the topic of it?

Thanks!

Surely somebody here still has a dot matrix printer in operation. It might take a combination print with a regular printer and a dot matrix, and the registration would probably have to be worked out by trial and error, but I would like a label or 2 myself (I need one for my F-107 in particular).

PS - I have a laminator, laminated in a fairly thin sheet would make it impervious to future cleanings.
"We are on the precipice of signing an agreement to advance talks with Iran that preserves the good parts of former President Barack Obama’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) while amplifying its flaws.
Mr. Obama came to an agreement that did not involve America’s most precious treasure, the lives and limbs of our soldiers.  The 1.7 billion dollars of frozen Iranian assets released by Obama pales in comparison to the 300 billion being floated as a rebuilding fund.
So far, speculation that Iran will be free in the future to continue its nuclear program is the opposite of Trump’s stated goal for the war and in direct opposition to what Mr. Obama negotiated.

fohat - hit up wcass.  He has a template with the correct font, that he can send you a PDF of, which you can print out yourself on sticker paper.  I did this for my F107 - an image of the 1st sticker I applied is below.  I wasn't happy with the bubbles in it, so I replaced it with a new one.

bubbleblobber - may be worth asking him as well, if he has a template for a Model M.

This is most likely what I'm thinking of, thanks!

If anyone gets that PDF please post it here (unless wcass doesn't want that).

This is the one wcass made for me for my F107.  I do not recall where I ordered the silver 'sticker' sheet from anymore though.  Printed it at home with a b/w laser printer.

Phosphor laminated his label after peeling it off with the help of a blow-dryer. Granted the label on it was almost pristine.

You could try carefully peeling it off, then laminate it to prevent further degradation.

I don't like the idea of getting a pristine "copy" of the label. Doesn't feel right to me :(
