working on my first build
« on: Mon, 21 March 2016, 18:41:50 »
About two years ago I caved and bought the kinesis advantage. Now that I'm able to work remotely I've been wanting something a bit more portable for traveling. Lots of digging around and I decided to build an ergodox and then decided to make a custom wooden case for it. Been stalking around these forums for awhile and figured I should probably join.

Welcome! Excited to see what you come up with. I'm also planning on doing an Ergodox build this year.

Sweet. I took my semi completed build to my alma mater. The chair of the department wanted me to talk to the current women in computer science group (we do exist). So I figured I'd bring the keyboard. They got super excited and are now building one. I think eventually they will make mods to it since they can print their own boards in house.

Welcome! I noticed the Ergodox while browsing Massdrop. By the end of the day I was watching Tested's and Whitefiredragon's Ergodox build videos. Fun stuff.

Welcome to Geekhack!

I see you have created a making stuff together thread already.

As well as posting pictures there, there is a post your Ergodox thread where you're more than welcome to post it too (and glance at a few others that people have made, if you haven't already).
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Welcome to Geekhack to you too!

How do you know it is nice - we haven't seen any pictures yet? :p

Nothing better than sharing the keyboard love! It's a great feeling getting someone to convert to a mechanical keyboard.
