Hot swappable keyboard

I have an idea to build a 60% keyboard with a detachable numpad, function row, and macro pad. I plan to use usb breakout boards to connect all the matrices together. The main issue I have in this conceptual phase is how I will secure the sections together.

Neodymium magnets to snap them together would hold well without having to fabricate a latching mechanism

Be careful with strength. There's a strong possibility to break smaller components if go full strength and let them "slam" together.
