Problems interpreting a test result from Aqua'S KeyTest
« on: Fri, 08 April 2016, 09:17:35 »
Hello guys,

I've a rubber dome keyboard which causes me a lot of trouble while testing it with the Aqua'S KeyTest. At first some facts:Its sold as a 6KRO keyboard with anti ghosting fuctions for some areas on the keyboard.

When I use Aqua'S KeyTest and try to verify the 6KRO I get the following results:

- You can press more than 6 (up to 8-9) keys at once (all will be detected by the controller)
- It blocks when you try to press NUM4, NUM5 and NUM1 or NUM2 or O, K and P for example. So basically it must be a 2KRO. At least in my understanding of NKRO.
- It seems to be a NKRO when it comes to the "anti-ghosting" areas of the keyboard
- When you block the keyboard with the 2KRO commands you cant hit ANY other button of the keyboard. Regardless if its in or outside of the anti ghosting area

When it comes to ghosting it seems that the keyboard blocks the input of a 3rd key (see 2KRO scenarios). Anyway sometimes a strange behavior occurs.
Lets say you press and hold the key 4 and after that 6, 7 and 8, the 8 will not be detected. Anyway if you still press all the keys and release key 6 after while the 8 will not be detected. Is this some other expression of ghosting?

This keyboard starts confusing me a lot  :-\. I hope you guys can help me on this :)

anti ghosting fuctions for some areas on the keyboard.

Any time something mentions a special area or zone of the keyboard, it's pretty safe to say that the keyboard is actually 2KRO.

As for the strange behavior, it could just be that some of the remaining keys are still blocking the key that you pressed earlier. Or it could be some kind of eccentricity with the controller/firmware of the particular keyboard.
