Introduction time!
« on: Wed, 20 April 2016, 14:29:21 »
Been lurking around here for a few months, kind of late to the party it seems.

Won a few raffles and interacted with a few good people, but thought I would make a post here and say hello to everyone.

Hello!

Awesome community you guys have here. Really fun seeing all of the friendships that exist even between different countries and extreme distances. Crazy what the internet and an interest such as this can do/be in our lives.

Hope everyone is having a good day! (Not because it is "420" or anything like that, but truly just because I hope you are!)

Take care all, and hope to see ya around!  :thumb:  <3

Welcome and I hope that you had a great 420! Your first keyboard in you signature almost looks exactly like the one I am using now, except my backspace is split into two and my right-shift is split for an extra key on that row!

Hello! Your layout sounds interesting! What kind of board do you have? I am currently swapping between two pok3rs in order to have switch options. The one you see on the left is the EVE set from signature plastics which is on my browns board used mostly for gaming (mainly because the set was readily available when I first got into customizing, but it has now really grown on me).

I am using a GH60 rev.C from techkeys.us It is a highly customizeable for a wide variety of key layouts, I like to solder so I might change the layout eventually but I am giving this one a fair shake. And I also am using the EVE keycaps I put the black arrows for the split backspace and an up arrow for the split shift key. I guess I don't know which arrows they are beauty of DSA profile keycaps.

Welcome to Geekhack!

MX browns in one Pok3r, what switches have you got in the other?

And if different, have you got a preference for one or the other?  I've got all sorts of switches and like to swap keyboards around every now and again for the variety :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Browns on one, Blues on the other. Blues are much more comfortable for typing while browns feel better for gaming IMO. It is a tough trade-off as they both feel nice in their own way. I can definitely see why some people own numerous boards with numerous switch types! Have yet to get my fingers on any sort of topre though, so I cannot speak on that.

I am actually quite interested in Zealios or Gaterons in general and trying them out. Any experience with them? It seems that i hear nothing but good things about them.

Welcome welcome! This community is pretty great, and I really enjoy how close-knit everyone seems to be. That's the main thing that drew me here. You're not alone with the Zealios interest...I've never tried them, I'm ashamed to say. But I recently bought a V60 with Matias Clicky switches and it's definitely making up for my slight disappointment with MX Clears. Next I'm going to try Zealios.

In gh media there's a pixel art forum, pinned to the top.
Some kind users may help you get what you want there if you can't make your own board.

After that just upload it to imgur & in your forum profile settings add it to your sig like this http://i.imgur.com/EXAMPLE
You change the #'s for diff sizes I believe.

Howdy!

Yeah I immediately loved those little signature boards, and had to modify a stock poker one to fit my EVE set. Just need more boards and caps now!  :thumb:

I have not heard anything bad about Zealios.  Some people like Gaterons, some prefer the original Cherry switches.  All of my MX-type keyboards have original Cherry switches, so I can't really comment either way.
