Hello from Mississippi (need forum help)
« on: Wed, 27 April 2016, 23:27:14 »
Hi guys, my name is Warren.  I live in South Mississippi right by the gulf.  Just got into mech keyboards and bought myself a Poker 2 in a Pok3r case with Gat browns and SIP backlighting.

I have a few questions for the forum side of things:
1.  Why is my post count stuck at 1?
2.  Why does my browser jump back to the index every time I submit a post?

-Thanks!  Happy to be a part of this community!

1.  Some forums (new members, off topic, classifieds) don't contribute to post count.
2. There's a setting in your profile under Look and Layout: "Return to topics after posting by default."  -- Make sure that's checked.

Haha thank you.   I've posted in all three of those subforums and only in those three subforums.  Thanks for the help!

Ok, so now how do I get this forum to stop emailing me every time someone posts in a thread I follow?

Welcome to the forum!

You can turn off notifications in your notification settings under Profile, but it should be unchecked by default. In each thread that you post in there is a watch button. You will need to unwatch them if you don't want to be notified.

Haven't been here long so someone correct me if I'm wrong. I just had to figure the same thing out.

I like the notification section to show what threads I've posted in, though.  Is there a way to get notifications in the forum but not to my email?  I've never used the Simple Machines forum layout before.

Maybe you could try using something like tapatalk, and set a forwarding rule in your email to trash any notifications with that subject matter - then you get the notifications in the app, but not cluttering your inbox. Still fires a notification so maybe it's a bit moot, just some wishful thinking  :))

Never mind guys.  Thanks for the help but I just figured out the "Watched" tab is what I was looking for not the "Notifications" tab  ;D

Welcome to Geekhack!

Have the default user settings changed?  I don't remember having changed any of those settings.

That was a heck of a (almost) first post you did about Air Tree's stuff - thank you again for that :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
