Well, my time has come and gone with the MX5000. Thank you so much Photekq for the time with your board. It is truly a unique board and to get to try one in such wonderful condition and with these wonderfully shiny OG doubleshots made it even better. Although I am not a huge fan of light switches, it was still a very good typing experience with the nicely worn in mx browns (ie: not scratchy at all), especially once I figured out that I just don't like the board tented and prefer to have about 15 deg. open on the middle. I also didn't need to use the cool little space bar extensions since I only use the very right edge of the right side. I also really liked the layout of the board when I tried it for a while completely closed down. This would be a killer layout for someone to make in a modern solid board.
One neat thing that I noticed during my use was the great feel of the pcb mounted switches. I have always liked the soft feel of a pcb mounted switch, but the unique thing about this board is that the individual pcbs are very small, so they don't flex too much like a full size board. The bottoming out of these light switches was never jarring like the bottom out of a plate mounted brown or blue.
Pictures of when I was first giving it a go with the center risers:
