A true multimedia machine, with blazing performance. Hey, it's got a 10.4" active matrix TFT display, that'll beat any DSTN hands down! It comes with all the goodies, too - a SCSI-2 host adapter is integrated, and there are two 16-bit ISA slots, now if that isn't top-grade expansibility I don't know what is. And isn't it light as a feather, at a mere 8 kg?

I wonder what kind of switches the detachable keyboard uses, would surprise me if it weren't mechanical.

I wonder what that cost new. I bet it was like 3 grand at least. lol

Hehe, dang I remember when I got my first 486, I thought it was the ultimate cause the dir listing would shoot past so fast I couldn't see it. roflol
First time I actually had to use a /p command. lol

"The Toshiba T6600C is the Power Portable that can meet even specialist's needs. Just look at the processing power - an Intel 486DX2 with an internal clock speed of 66 MHz, 8 MB memory, expandable up to 40 MB, and a 510 MB hard disk expandable to an unprecedented storage capacity of 1 GB."

1gb! geesh that would have been a powerhouse.

Given all the bells and whistles, certainly more. (...) Found something - still was more than $7500 in '94. Poor old wallet.

I like it when the Ebay seller adds his own personal touch to the listing description he swipes from google.

I like that he described it as an "Awesome Hipster Laptop". At that weight, it better be a ripster hipster... no relation to Legoboy Ripster.

I want to get an old chunky beige laptop with 7" screen and a 486, load Windows 98 SE on it, chuck in a wireless PCMIA card, and take a trip to Starbucks to go on the Wi-Fi! Although that Toshiba would have been better for that job (It would get more stares) but it's too expensive.

My $10 beige Libretto P75 can do that with Win95-B. Although it's only the size of a paperback, the PCMCIA USB to USB WiFi adds a big inconvenience for a coffee house. I should just bite the bullet and pay for a Cardbus wifi card; it's got almost 4 hours continuous battery life

and me too.  if it were cheaper (way cheaper) it would be awesome to slap this thing down on a table, get out the cord, plug it into the wall and prepare for some serious work.

I actually have a PS/2 P70 (the much less powerful predecessor to the P75 - in spite of a 386DX-20, memory performance is about on par with a 1991 386SX-20). Uploaded a sound sample of the keyboard a while back.

If I got a laptop like that, I'd rig up a wireless PCMIA card to a pair or rabbit ears. I'd march into Starbucks and take out the big old laptop. Then, I'd open a special door and start it up with a pull-starter. Then, I'd point the rabbit ears to the WI-Fi source and blatently have trouble with the computer just to get some weird stares.

might be even better to get a really long phone cord, and start pulling tables away from the wall looking for a phone jack.

You guys will be fighting over who wins this. It's a real powerhouse.

In 2003, I got a bunch of old 486 portables and cannibalized 'em for college.

The main one ended up as:
Toshiba T1950CT, 486DX2-40, 20M RAM, 500M disc.

I alternated with a Dual DC-4000 (with standard 72-pin memory slot) running 12M of memory, a 200M disc, and OS/2 3.0.  I slapped a 5x86-133 upgrade card in it, and it was perky, except for a want of cache.
Overton130, Box Pale Blues.

Good idea. Then I'll demand to see the management to ask for an access code.

What sort of keyboard is it? I heard rumors that it was Alps, and videos I've seen sound like it could be one.
