Welcome to Geekhack!

Which keyboard are you using?

If you want to find out the sorts of things we are interested in (apart from keyboards and keycaps, of course), have a look through the threads in other geeky stuff and off topic.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Currently I'm using a KUL TKL with Cherry MX Clears. I'm working toward getting a mechanical keyboard for my boyfriend. Thanks for the welcome and tip. I'm checking out all the awesome info available here! I uploaded  a photo of a board that's sparking his interest.

the qfr is a very good option, especially at the price range. i have one as my daily gaming driver and often just type on it for mundane tasks bc i get too lazy to swap boards and it feels so good

if you have keyboards with costar stabs like the qfr, i would recommend getting stabilizer lube from elitekeyboards and following a youtube guide on how to apply. it makes a world of difference

then i would recommend getting a frosty flake from bpiphany for full programmability and a cherry profile keyset, but baby steps

If want the fully programmable frosty flake you can order it from 1upkeyboards.com. No need to send bpiphany emails for that, I think that's the reason for the skiwithpete/bpiphany partnership.

Do you get much ping from the KUL?  I have a CODE TKL with MX clears, and there is a little ping, but I only really hear if it I'm listening for it.  CODE is somewhat notorious for ping, so I guess I got lucky.

The QFR is a great keyboard - I didn't know they were still available!  I have a QFR with MX blacks still going strong, and a QFS with MX greens also still going strong after a few years.
