Looking for specific keycaps
« on: Fri, 20 May 2016, 16:50:26 »
Now that I have owned a mechanical keyboard (Corsair Vengeance K70 w/ Cherry MX Red) for a couple of years, I've been thinking about going ahead and fully customizing a keyboard for my taste. I'm probably going to end up going with a Poker 3 w/ Cherry MX Clears. I figured I would go ahead and get some custom keycaps to go with it as well. Does anyone know where I could get some keycaps that fit the following criteria (without spending way too much money):

- PBT (preferably thick)
- Cherry MX stem
- Blank
- Red (for alphanumeric)
- Black (for modifiers)
- DSA profile (preferable, but willing to compromise here)

Thank you for any help you can provide!

Welcome to Geekhack!

For DSA you're looking at Signature Plastics/Pimp My Keyboard - they are the only ones making DSA.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

If you want to grab a set for a pok3r, tkl, full-sized, ergodox, ISO, and numpad check out the blank keysets. The option for DSA is the third option. Ordering PBT requires you to check out the swatches to see what color code you need. PMK uses both ABS and PBT; and they all have color codes specific to the kind of plastic used. I've sure you've already noticed the non-standard bottom row of your Corsair. Rowdy linked you to the extras you'll probably need including the spacebar. They have spacebars that range in size from 6u-8u which is insane  (technically they have spacebars from 2u to 8u but um, damn)
