Are they worth the effort?
« on: Tue, 31 May 2016, 11:12:23 »
Hi Folks,

Long time no posting.

ive been planning my soon to be immediate migration to Sweden and thus offloading things I don't need or cannot take with me.

As part of my "fire sale" i stumbled across two AT102W keyboards, one beige one black.  Both are PS2 and in working order.

Would this be something worth posting in the member forums or should i just junk them both?

I figured i would ask here before posting up in the whats it worth section as I doubt these hold much value.

TIA

H

The beige one is super common, they're so cheap I don't even bother selling them, I just give them to friends. You should try linearising the switches, they get super smooth :) .

The black one is much rarer and more valuable, you shouldn't have too much trouble unloading that one.

Thanks for the advice.

What would you imagine the value being.

Or should i just post in the appropriate section?

I'd consider buying either, but I'd guess you're not in Australia, so the silly shipping cost would kinda kill that idea.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It's not easy to ship a Bigfoot at under 2 kg, especially not if it has to survive the trip all the way to Straya Croikey Mite.

There's also the free stuff pay it forward thread stickied in classifieds if you don't want to bother with selling the beige one.

Oh btw if you can't sell it here go to Deskthority, there's a lot more Europeans there. Last time I mentioned I had found a black AT102W I got several messages asking for it, so you might have more luck there if not here.

Don't send anything to Quincyjones. He's a **** and encourages theft through Ebay.

I assume "****" means "monk"? No, I am not a monk.

Ebay encourages theft (and have been taken to court over it in USA). Maybe you should sell something on it and find out.

Also, thanks for the shout out, and "sourcing" a thread that actually shows how foolish you are! I think anyone in double figures actually "gets" it.

Dont blame the site for you behaving unethically.

I behave unethically? If you can't discern sarcasm of Ebay's "buyer always right" computer algorigthm, then I don't think you can say such big words. Now, stay on topic, and stop making yourself look foolish.

One can open an SKCM switch and remove the tactile/click leaf to make it linear.
Current drivers: IBM Model M SSK

Making them linear. I published a video about this mod and how to do it:
