So I grabbed 2 KBP V60 minis off Reddit last week for $100 since I've been wanting to try a 60% board & some new switch types. Both KBs are great & I am very happy with them but the one with the white switches says it is a limited production run product. Mine is 96 out of 150. Now I doubt that adds a ton of value to the board since the seller let it go to me for $50. I was wondering if any of you guys knew some info on these. I can't find much about it searching the web & although I plan on keeping this KB I was curious as to truly how rare it is & what it may be worth? Any info would be greatly appreciated!  :thumb:

Whites aren't that popular, they probably just did a small batch to test sales.

I don't think in this case it being a limited edition makes it more or less valuable.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I was figuring it didn't add much if anything to the value. Otherwise I doubt the seller would've let it go so cheap. What you said is probably the reasoning behind the limited production, it makes sense to me. TBH though I really like the whites due to my heavy handed typing style, but I can see others with a lighter typing touch not liking them. Oh well, not a jackpot find but still pretty cool to me to have a board that is 1 of 150 made. :thumb:

I wouldn't even bother using MX whites in any keyboard. They're probably one of the worst and most inconsistent switches you can get on the market, even worse than Oetemu switches. Even on the same keyboard switches can feel vastly different from eachother. Like a combinaton of MX Brown and MX Blue but super inconsistent and more scratchy.

A similar switch type that is much better is actually those blue SMK Monterey switches. Somewhat stiffer than MX Blues with a soft click.

You could also try writing to KBP and MK to get additional information.

TBH the only thing that is inconsistent with the Cherry whites on this board is the click. Some keys click more loudly than others but the feel & tactility is very consistent over the whole board. I have actually started using this as my daily typer over a V60 with Cherry blues & a Disco with KBT browns. Maybe I got lucky with this board but I am actually really liking it & I definitely would not be using it if the switches felt as inconsistent as your are suggesting they should.

I will look into the blue SMK Monterey switches you mentioned since I do like the heaviness of the whites. Don't get me wrong I do believe that you are correct that the whites are inconsistent switches seeing how unpopular they are & judging from the clickiness of my board. I am just being honest when I say that the feel & tactility of my V60 with whites seems pretty consistent. I actually typed half of this reply with whites & half with blues just to make sure I wasn't being blinded to the inconsistency because I really like the heaviness of the whites.

Good idea! :thumb: Think I will do that just to get some more info on it.

An even easier switch to find are White ALPS, they are much louder than MX Blues but are stiffer and more tactile.

I have been looking at some older boards with true ALPS & some newer boards with the ALPS like switches. Actually been planning on hitting up some of my local thrift stores to see what I can find, I'll have to keep any eye for the white ALPS then. Thanks for the info!  :thumb:

White alps sound like the bomb!
I wonder if they're even attainable in Europe.

Hopefully if I can find a board with true ALPS. I see KBP has a few V60s available with ALPS knock offs (futaba or something like that is the brand name) but I would much prefer to get a older board with true ALPs. I think I am gonna restrict myself to just thrift store finds for the next month or so while saving for a custom kit & Topre board. Hopefully I can come across some thrift store gold in between now & then!  :thumb:

The best thing you can do when going thrift store hunting is have a key puller on your keyring. Dont pass up dome with slider boards with alps compatible keycaps if theyre cheap, alps caps can be kindof a ***** to source. Since you already have a v60, the matias based v60 (new alps clones that use real alps designs) is a good starting place. Matias click switches are pretty nice, but if you find a nice original alps board, you can swap the switches into the v60, since matias and alps use the same mounting system and pin configuration. welcome to the wonderful world of alps!
