Almost new in working order still has ink in it.

I'd love to make this purchase, but the seller wouldn't ship overseas.  It's a shame because, while he would ship across the Pacific to Hawaii, he wouldn't ship across Lake Huron to Toronto!

From experience I can tell you that you most likely wouldn't be happy with this purchase. Selectrics require a lot of maintenance and service, it is most likely in bad mechanical shape. "Almost new in working order still has ink in it.", I am also confident that the seller couldn't tell if this machine is in working order or not anyway. There are only very few peole left who can service these machines, they are a mess. These machines are more complicated that your car, or everything else mechanical you happen to own for that matter. If you plan on using it, buy a refurbished one, if will cost you more but it is also going to last you longer. These machines where not made to last like the manual ones decades older where. Besides that, 100$ Is not a good price, I would never pay that, even for one in working order. Pick these machines up in person if you can, don't ship a Selectric, It will arrive damaged. People don't know how to ship typewriters. I made that experience more that once. These machines are divas, but once you get them to wok, they work.

Besides all that, the baby selectric's (with a 10-inch platen) are what you want.

And in case you want a real mess, go for a Selectric composer, it has proportionally spaced writing. It wont work, nobody on this planet can service these anymore, not even most IBM technicians at the time knew how to service these. But hey, go big or go home.
