[Help] Ducky Shine 3 TKL Yellow Disassembly
« on: Sun, 03 July 2016, 06:07:09 »
Recently bought this Ducky Shine 3 TKL Yellow Edition from someone and was planning to place all the switches with Zealios. I got my Zealios switches yesterday but I'm having some serious difficulties removing the top housing of the keyboard. There is only 1 screw on the back of the keyboard as this is a TKL version and there are 2 clips on the bottom and top.

The main issue I'm having now is the bottom corners, they seem impossible to take off. The top 2 have come off as you can see in the pictures below. I'd appreciate it if anyone has any idea how to get it off, I've never had this much trouble with a disassembly before. :thumb:

Just a guess that there might be screws under the black rubber pads.

I'm typing on mine atm, but I don't want to pull it apart.

If you push down really hard on the black rubber pads, it feels like the middle has a hole under it.

You can try carefuly peeling one up, but don't remove it all the way.  When you get it half way it should be clear whether there's a screw hole underneath or not.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Two clips doesn't sound like many, have you ran your credit card (or other pro tool :))) all the way around to check for more?

On my Ducky I have to do either top or bottom first and the other way doesn't seem to work, so try bottom first if you haven't already.

Thanks, I've actually taken all 4 off before posting this and checked. No screws under any of them.

I've tried that too, been using a card since first attempt. I've taken apart my shine 4 with ease but this keyboard is stubborn.
