1390120, may have rainbow plate, silver label, and other features of an early m.no lock lights. has thick black at to sdl cable. 55$ is a pretty good price for these. I would buy this myself if I wasnt so wallethacked I would be buying this.

Was there a pic of the plate?  I'm not certain you can guarantee a yellow plate on one that late in 1987.

one of my wheelwriters has a rainbow plate and it has late 88 dates on it. my 0131 is from march of 87, there is a good chance that it has a rainbow plate. Ive seen pics of 88 0120s with rainbow plates too. there seems to be a good chance it has a rainbow plate.

All the lines didn't transition at the same time, there isn't one set date where everything before is yellow.     While there's a good chance I'm not certain it's guaranteed to have it.

Updated OP. the rainbow or yellow plate, however you prefer, may be present. either way, its a solid board.

I did, thanks for posting it!  My dad mentioned that he liked the old clicky IBM keyboards when I got my keyboard here at work, so I figured it would make a nice little surprise for his birthday.  What would I need to get it working on a new PC, I'm assuming some sort of USB adapter?

Okay thanks.  I know that we have at least a half dozen of the USB to PS2 adapters at my work, so I'll just pick up the other one!

That will not work, a modern PC will not understand AT (or OS/2) for that matter. You'll need an active converter from either AT or PS/2.

No, but if you go through the descriptions in eBay and the questions you should be able to find one. They might've asked if the converter will work with a Model M, for example.

Cool thanks for the tip, I found some on Amazon and Newegg that discuss it a little bit and seem to work fine.

This was a bad listing. A 1390120 would have come with a black detachable AT that easily looked at PS/2 with a simple adapter.

The photo matches one set of details but not another.

Orihalcon's adapter cable will work great but cost almost as much as the keyboard.

I believe that that was a stock photo, not sure though. I usually go by the description on listings by large companies, as they are likely to have stock photos.

The top shows the 1392595 but hides the cable, which would have been telling, but when you scroll down it says "Actual Photo" but then lists the 1390120 as the part number.

Well it arrived, and what an odd board it is.  Below is the board as it came...



One thing I noticed is that the numpad and some of the other legends look different.



The cable though...it looks like a telephone cable?



And this is the back label.



So am I gonna have to install a teensy or something in this to get it to work, or can I add a converter of some kind to get it going?  My dad's birthday is about a month out and I would love to give it to him as a present, but I don't know how much work it's gonna take so any help at all would be appreciated

Edit:  After a little digging, it looks like it's a terminal Model M and that I'll need a Soarers Converter

It's a terminal model M, both the cable and the weird legends give it away. Orihalcon sells converters for them .

Im sorry man, I went by what the description said. Hopefully it isnt too big of an issue. you should work the seller for a partial refund, the description was incorrect.

Not a big deal, I would've had to buy some adapters anyways and I kinda like the legends on it so I'll just get a converter for it.

I have one like that, in great condition, but the legends on the numpad are almost completely worn off. I would sell it but it looks pretty shabby like that.

Orihalcon's converters are about $35 but you can get a Teensy for $20 and a knock-off for $5 or a little more.

If you can solder and/or attach the Teensy or knock-off, mount it internally and just have a clean USB Model M from now on.

Thanks for the advice, but I don't have any soldering equipment (yet) so I'll probably just end up getting a converter for it.  Overall the board looks like it's in good condition so I'm not too worried
