Greetings from MY
« on: Fri, 15 July 2016, 06:08:11 »
Hello to all keyboard master here  ;) . I'm new to this community, registered few months back but that time I was busy with my final exam :P

I've been using Cherry Mechanical Keyboard for around 3 years and currently i own 4 Keyboard, which is Corsair K70 RGB Cherry MX Brown, Corsair Strafe RGB Cherry MX Red, Vortex Pok3r Cherry MX Red and Leopold FC750R Cherry MX Blue.

I was one of the victim who encounter key chattering issue for both of my Corsair Keyboard, and my QuickFire Rapid-I which i send to warranty and sold off.

After done some research and i found out these "unique species" living in the earth called "Topre" that vaccinated against Keyswitch Chatter/Bounce so i decided to adopt one of it :)

The Topre keyboard that caught my attention is HHKB Pro 2 and Realforce 87U (45g). Due to budget constraints, I will have to choose only one between these two Topre Keyboard (eventho i wanted to get both T_T)

Since the price point for both keyboard is kinda close, I'm having difficult of choosing which one to buy. Hopefully i can find the solution for my problem in this community soon :)

Welcome to Geekhack!

How did you go with your exam?

You'll probably find more people here voting for HHKB than RealForce, but many also voting for RealForce.  There is a 55g RealForce too, but given your predilection for lighter switches (reds, browns, blues) the 45g Topr should be fine.

Note that keycaps are difficult to come by for either of them, if not downright impossible, unfortunately.

Also the space bar is ABS, which tends to shine fairly easily.  You'd want to get a couple of PBT space bars which, fortunately are available RIGHT NOW (for a limited time).  Even if you're still making your mind up about the keyboard, get the space bars!  If you change you mind later on you can resell the space bars ;)

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
