« on: Wed, 20 July 2016, 19:44:03 »
If any of you are looking for one of these, this is a good deal (about half price, considering shipping):

Unicomp Model M PS/2

From seller's description: "Got these from a closout sale of an IT shop that was going under.  They appear brand new, unused..."

If those are the PS/2 variety and don't need a converter, the deal is even better.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.

This makes me even sadder.

Can't afford to spend money on keyboards (or much else) for a while.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

If you're a true KB fanatic, the time may eventually come when you have to make a difficult choice:

Live in a decent, friendly country with good beer, but where prohibitive shipping costs make it impossible to order vintage KBs online?

Or live in a country where people go around randomly shooting each other, and where an arrogant, mean-spirited, racist egomaniac with dangerously bad hair may be elected president, but where you can ship a 6-lb. KB coast-to-coast for under $20?

Don't sell us short. You can ship an 8+ pound keyboard from Florida to Alaska for under $19.

On the other hand, an inch across the border raises that by $50.

Actually, the flat rate game board box goes to Canada for $54, unless you are adding customs or something.

Easily

I don't think there is enough padding room in a flat rate game box. It hasn't enough girth to absorb a possible heavy impact to the side of the box. I got an SSK shipped in one and I could tell that one wrong jab or mash would have ****ed it up. I would use a minimum of 4.5x22x10" boxes like Elite Keyboards and Mechanicalkeyboards.com uses.

hah, I used to drink Fosters back in the day because that commercial "Fosters, Australian for BEER"...so cool, I've always wanted an Australian accent..

then I found out that it's owned by Anheuser Busch and it's just leftover Budweiser  :))

Middle of winter at the moment.

Still creepy-crawlies around, in fact the wet weather drives them out from where they are hiding and they come indoors where it's warm(ish) and dry.

Eeewww who drinks Fosters?

Actually I seem to prefer Asahi, which is Japanese, but I've been known to suck down a Coldie from time to time.

hah, I used to drink Fosters back in the day because that commercial "Fosters, Australian for BEER"...so cool, I've always wanted an Australian accent..

Would the 122 model fit into a flat rate box?

Sorry to interrupt but.... SPEAK OF THE DEVIL! look what happened to my last shipment. KEYBOARD OKAY!!!
