Mine was out for delivery and then back to post office. Dang!

Should I go with Gateron black or Vintage black? Decisions..

Vintage blacks + krytox. The only way.

Indeed, the thought is that the cutouts make for less stable mounting in the plate.

I have one board (not a Duck) that supports switch top removal and it's wobbly as hell. I'm not a fan.

I have an RS96 and its wobbly too but its not because of the switch top removal feature.. I think its because of the way it is assembled and the materials - the plate/pcb is very flexy. I have a lot of switch top removal boards, like the TX-CP I am typing on right now that are super solid and its certainly not flexy feeling like the RS96.

Yeah I would say the wobbly-ness of RS has more to do with the tray like design. That's why I only buy kits with top mounting plate.

Here's a few phone pics for those that wanted them... waiting on Zeal's GB to start assembly.  I just stacked the parts up to give you all an idea, so if tolerances don't look quite right, that's why.  I'm no photographer, so don't judge.

I'm curious, too. Do you mean bead blast? That's the only thing I can think of involving glass beads and aluminum fabrication.

What I mean by that is the texture on the aluminum. I'm no expert, but as you can see it is a grainy texture finish on duck keyboards. I'm not sure what method he used but a shop told me you can achieve a nice smooth texture by glass bead blasting. All my other keyboards have a very fine texture and I am a huge fan of that.

I think this is more preference than quality. If it is a smooth finish it shows imperfections much easier.

Yeah I never said anything about quality hence its only the "texture". Its just my preference to have a smooth texture.

There is a tutorial for this on KBDlab (there also is a keymapping tutorial there), it's in Korean though, so I didn't get that much info out of it.

Got mine today. This is the first time I actually received a Duck board from GB. Sick packaging Elton!

The customs didn't even bother opening the package, and they usually open everything that came into this country.

Yeah I was hoping someone experienced with Duck boards could help out though. I went to the site downloaded the latest 02D KeyMapper but I realise that I just wanted to test the lights and not remap it. I realised it's possible to have a "original blackbird" firmware or "customised keymap" firmware. But in the first place, what's the keymap of the original one to test the lights?

Agree that it is a preference. They're just different surface options. I prefer the rougher finish - it does hide minor sins, and it also leaves the surface more matte. I like that look.

Oh. This is to say that I have to map the rgb control keys, and reflash before I can test the back RGBs? Hmn... that's a bit weird but ok I can try to do that.

I don't know if there are control keys mapped on the firmware the board shipped with, but it definitely was a lot easier for me to figure out how to reflash it than to search for the stock mappings.

Picked up mine from the post office today :>. The aluminium has a really nice, slightly grainy surface texture which feels and looks amazing. Board is comfortably hefty even without a weight insert, and feels very solid. That said, while I'm overall happy with it, the perfectionist in me does have some niggles with the anodizing. Specifically, the beveled edges (which are admittedly ****ing sweet) appear to have caused some problems for the anodizing process, as there are a few places where the underlying aluminium comes through:

You can see the same issue on the nearest corner in the 4th pic on onmybikedrunk's album, more clearly than on my crap pictures. It's not very obvious in either case, but noticeable if you're looking closely.

Also, given the steel plate is just raw, unfinished stainless steel (laser cut, I think, judging by the marks on the back), I think I'll probably end up polishing it before I'm satisfied :).

That steel plate looks brushed to me in your pic, is it just plain steel? The corner anodizing is unfortunate.

I don't quite get what you mean with configure, but the first three are Numlock, Capslock and Scrolllock. The other five are mainly used for the layers.

You have to install the Korean language package to windows for this to work.
