Hey, I am Christian from Germany
« on: Fri, 19 August 2016, 12:23:55 »
Hi everyone!

My name is Christian, I am from Germany, have been into mechanical keyboards for about a year and started reading this board for about the same time. At the moment my favorite keyboard is a Leopold FC660M with Cherry MX Blues. I tried myself at creating custom keycaps/keycap sets with more or less success. ;)

Also: Because it is very hard to get your hands on custom/rare mechanical keyboards in Germany, I am planning to hold a meetup in October.
Where is the best place on GH to announce this?

Cheers,
Christian

Welcome Christian and Off-Topic is a good place to start.

Welcome to Geekhack!

There's lots of German members, so you might end up with good attendance.

As reaper said, Off Topic is the best place for meetup planning.  Good luck :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

That's great wording in that post!  Almost makes me want to attend :))

Except other side of the world ...

Ignore tp4 - he has a few obsessions.

If/when the meetup occurs, you're welcome to post pictures, or not, as you and the other attendees decide :)

Hi, cheers from a fellow countryman (Cologne) but currently living in Detroit - so no chance to join the meeting in October. Viel Spass!

Welcome to GH! I have spent some very pleasant times in Germany many years ago, mostly in the Bavarian region. However, unfortunately, I have no plans to return anytime soon.

Thank you guys!

Seems like the meetup thread never got any traction on GH :( Am I doing something wrong?
