I doubt you're going to have a lot of competition... How much is the AU Dollar worth compared with the American one?

Almost one-on-one with the US one according to XE. Not bad for a country famous for the Crocodile Hunter, and banning... everything?

I wonder if stealing the only Australian Model F would be worth about $250 shipping fees.

Man hath made keyboards so equal, in the faculties of the switch, and controller; as that though there be found one man sometimes manifestly stronger in the body, or of quicker mind than another; yet when all is reckoned together, the difference between man, and man, is not so considerable, as that one man can therupon clain to himself any benefit, to which another may not pretend, as well as he.
For as to the strength of body, the weakest has strength enough to kill the strongest, either by subversive sniping applications, or by confederacy with others, that are in the same danger with himself.

I'd also be a wee bit leary about a seller who states no returns allowed and who is not rated by ebay.

lower case of AT F 84 is made of plastic. XT F 83 does have a metal back. still  the upper case is plastic too.  Full metal jacket thingy is not allowed for trading within eBay.

Those letters are not Chinese. Japanese, actually.

response from seller

Thanks for your interest. About the 'buy it now' idea - my feeling is that this is not within the sprit of the eBay process and it would be better not to operate that way. Why not put a bid in? Who knows, you might get lucky and win it for $46.00, plus postage, of course.

Snipe it in any case. Early bidding only attracts Ebay trolls.

Definitely looks like a "true blue" AT Model F. As for the backside pic, you'll have to download (save) it, then you can upload it here. That label sounds like it was applied later in the board's life.
Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

I often find the ONLY way to win tech type equiptment is to bid in the last minute frenzy....i guess it goes with the territory. we are nerds.

:(

I sincerely hope the actual winner is not an active member of this website. That's a really low thing to do considering how difficult (well, expensive) it is for you to obtain one from overseas.

Even though I lunge at good deals, if I saw a member here put "dibs" on a listing, I wouldn't touch it. Where there's a forum there's a community and you destroy the community if you go doing that sort of thing to each other.

It would be right out of order if someone from here pulled the trigger on that one.

What did it go for in the end?

Well, you never know how much the other actually bid. The trick with sniping is to put in your maximum bid, then see at what amount the bidding stopped.

Actually, trievalot bid within 10s before the end, it's just that the other guy bid 6 secs later and at a higher price.

Help out a dummy. Why wait to snipe when you have a maximum bid in mind? What's the disadvantage to bidding my maximum immediately, and relaxing until the auction is over?
I trolled Geekhack and all I got was an eponymous SPOS.

So they figure out my bid. If that's really the most I'd pay, big deal. I'll bid the same maximum on the next auction, and again, until I get the item at my price.

Sniping seems to be more interested in winning than establishing limits. Sniping appears to be for those who won't actually establish an upper limit with themselves, and subsequently let themselves be manipulated by other bids, and the excitement of the last second.

Been there. Done that. Meh.

actually im not too worried, as posted in KEYBOARDS IN AUSTRALIA-LOTS thread i have 2 model Fs coming for $20 each (plus postage), and am still happy to post boards from a1usedcomputers.com.au OS since the business wont. :-)
I was originally going to go to $90 for this one, but feedback of 0% and finding cheaper elsewhere made me think twice. The bid was just a knee jerk reaction.
