Clip-modding PCB mount Cherry Stabilizers

Is this even possible? The stem(?) is different from the ones I usually see, and I do not have any idea what to clip/cut for experiment since I only have limited pcb-mounted stabilizers here. The stems(?) I have are similar to the picture below:



compared to plate mounted stem(?) that I did a clip mod on a Magicforce 68:



I tried searching the web first but no results, all of the info I checked were from a plate-mounted stabilizers, so might as well try asking here.

Any ideas or pictures/videos on how to do clip mod for PCB are appreciated!

If your PCB mount stabilizers have a moulding sprue mark in the middle of the cross, and looks like the vintage PCB mount stab inserts, I'm willing to bet they're the fake Cherry stabs from Taobao. I would advise tossing those away and get yourself some real Cherry stabilizers, or your stabs will rattle like crazy. Reason? Pic:

Hole is way too wide and the stab wire ends up bouncing around causing noise.

I appreciate the answer but my question is if those kinds of stems can be clip-modded or not, not whether these came from Taobao or not. If they can't be modded, then the next choice would be me buying Cherry stabs but for now I want to know if I can do the same thing as the original ones.

Sorry if it wasn't clear. The ones with the "U" shaped feet are "pre-clipped" by design, so no, you cannot clip mod them. With that said, I would still recommend picking up a pair of real Cherry stabs and properly clipping the legs. All modern Cherry stabilizer inserts are supposed to look like the magicforce one you linked, regardless of PCB mount or Plate mount.

Thank you very much. I guess I will just buy cherry stabilizers first and halt my project for the meantime :thumb:
