Greetings from Tommy
« on: Fri, 30 September 2016, 09:35:09 »
Hi, it's very pleased to meet all the keyboard lovers here.

I'm join this forum to find a suitable keyboard for myself.

Here's my daily using scenario of keyboard:

1. Most time working on macOS, sometimes on Windows
2. Write personal blog posts
3. Programming
4. Work under Linux/Unix/BSD
5. Non-gamer

The problem I'm facing is:

1.  Seldom mechanical keyboards available on market support Mac system
2. Writing posts, programming for long time, it could be very tired
3. I prefer a Bluetooth connected keyboard other than one with USB cable
4. A mini sized keyboard would be great, as I can bring it everywhere
5. A keyboard can work like HHKB that can easily switched between Mac / Windows
6. It would be great to support both USB / Bluetooth methods at the same time
7. Has internal battery, no matter is size AAA battery or Lithium-ion battery

No sure whether someone got the same idea as me? And you're advices are warmly welcomed.

Thanks.

Would a normal HHKB (non bluetooth model) with a hasu bluetooth controller work?

Thought that too, but still another controller has to be used.

A GH60 + Bluetooth would a good one.

What makes you think that? I have several mech boards and they all work fine on my Macs. The KUL even has a switch to set it into Mac-mode. But I only use wired keyboards, cannot speak for BT ones.

Thank you first.

Most of the mech keyboards I can get here in China are for Windows only, I have to use the System Preferences to switch the "Win" / "Cmd", "Alt" / "Opt" keys.

Because there are a lot of USB cables, DP cables and power cables, so I prefer less cables unless it is a must, like say, power cable.

Could check out Varmilo. Supposedly people have had success with the VB87M Bluetooth model. They also have some smaller sized boards that will probably work will with Mac. Mechanicalkeyboards.com has/carries the other models. I think Massdrop sells the bluetooth 87 key. Adding a bluetooth module to a kit or whatever could work too if you can get a case printed/CNCed/lasered/casted or find one that can fit your battery of choice. What about HHKB BT? People seem to love HHKB's BT new addition.

HHKB BT can switch between usb/bt and Win/Mac right?

I did that in the beginning as well, but meanwhile I leave the keys as the are on the Win Boards, i.e. Alt next to Space and Command/OS keys next to it. Works good for me when composing the German Umlaute (Alt+U then 'aou').
