Anyone used a "Sodial" brand Teensy 2.0?
« on: Tue, 08 November 2016, 07:22:34 »
https://www.amazon.ca/USB-development-board-keyboard-experiment/dp/B01JFXS2X4/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1478610026&sr=8-6

It has an ATMEGA32U4, so it should be able to run TMK or QMK.  Can anyone think of a reason this might not be a good idea?

I have an Amazon giftcard, otherwise I would be ordering a PJRC Teensy

There have previously been third party "Teensy" boards but they did not have the original PJRC bootloader and work more like a ProMicro than a real Teensy when it comes to flashing. What makes the Teensy so special is the bootloader and the high pinout count compared to the ProMicro which sells for  ~5$

Thanks for the reply.  I haven't flashed a Teensy before.  Without the PJRC bootloader, will I run into any difficulty?

How would my flashing experience differ between having a PJRC versus a non-PJRC?

This listing by Karlsson Robotics is a genuine Teensy 2.0. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NC43256/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AFBMYHRQ9KU5H Also ships from USA, not China like the fake one you linked to.

What do you think about this one i have ordered two pieces.

I didn't try to run TMK or QMK because I am programming tennsy in arduino language and for now keyboard matrix work.

It's still a fake, and given the wonkiness of the button not a great one.

Either you want to support the original designers and get the tiny bootloader or you just want a cheap controller that will get the job done, which those should.
