Rapoo V500 RGB repair questions
« on: Mon, 21 November 2016, 10:05:45 »
A couple of weeks ago I got a Rapoo V500 RGB with their 'brown' switches:

I'm mostly very happy with the board except for one thing I just discovered - the '5' key does not register when pressed. The LED for that key is fine. I checked the stem and plunger, and they look like they are fine.

Since this was sold by and shipped direct from China, I feel like my best option might be to try to repair it myself. Maybe it's just a bad solder joint... anyone have any experience with the Rapoo V500 RGB internals? The keyswitch is 'Rapoo' branded (with a Cherry MX compatible stem), and the board is a 'floating' style, with at least two screws underneath keys holding the metal plate in place (I haven't removed all the keycaps yet, so there is probably at least one more screw holding it down). the underside of the board is a clear shell with some small circular rubber feet that are covering screws, as well as one that looks like it's hidden under the sticky label in the center underside of the board. Will I need to take the bottom off the board to do this repair, or can I go at it from the top? I'm also welcome to any general advice for this type of situation (like if this is more likely a bad keyswitch and not just bad soldering...)
