Idea23 Custom dye sub caps
« on: Mon, 19 December 2016, 11:15:56 »
Link to my reddit post https://goo.gl/fXAtBv

I have some dye sub caps up for sale, I am also taking orders for custom SA R3, DSA, and cherry profile. I will be adding an option for white cherry profile caps later today once I verify that I got them in the mail. If you have any questions leave a comment or send me a pm. I am mostly active on reddit, but will check GH a couple times a day. My reddit username is the same as my GH one /u/busgamer7394

Can you do Cherry legends too? Also, are you gonna get different Cherry profile base colours?

Not so great with legends yet, going to try something new this weekend. Order tracking says I should be getting cherry profile White PBT blanks today. I will add those as an option once I get them.

I'm looking forward to see more of your creations, especially on cherry profile keycaps. Hopefully you'll be getting more base colours.

This is crazy cool. If you can get a handle on legends, then you'll have quite the commodity on your hands, I personally would love to buy american-made dyesubs

I've bought keycaps from Busgamer almost every time they've had a sale. They're amazing. Everyone should support Idea23.

Hey busgamer, have you considered to go back to your 'artisan' style? Can I buy a custom whole mod-set from you (I understand you'd be expecting like $10 per cap, and that's very reasonable)?

I wanted to make more but needed some funding so I have been selling dye subs to make some money for more artisan style caps. I wanted to make jelly key style dsa mods but didnt want to feel like I was copying their style. After their last post where they want people to pay to enter a raffle i'm okay with it now.

here was my first try at a DSA 1u   http://imgur.com/a/WiK9Y
for the next batch I will add more gold powder to make the color show better.

I can try to get a qoute from BSP and compare them. BSP has a diffrent top row right?

Also which is more popular, I mostly see gmk sets in group buys for cherry profile.

GMK is ABS, BSP is PBT. If you're doing PBT dyesubs, then you'd want BSP to keep going with the same settings/tooling you have so far. I don't think dye-subbing ABS is possible, simply because it's hazardous, right?

there's nothing morally wrong with being inspired by Jelly Key! that said, my favourite caps by you are the ones that look like this:

To me, a white blank alpha set with your mods in that style would be one of the most gorgeous things you could put on a keyboard.

In comparison, Jelly Keys just look like a novelty.

Last I read, ABS melts at dye-ssubbing temperatures.

I will be making more of these soon, the next batch should be a lot better. I got my vacumm chamber and pressure pot working. The next mods I make will be semi transperent with dust inside and mixed color swirls.

If you could do this on the new SA PBT, I'd be interested in some Fallout  :thumb:
