Zealios 65g vs Ergo-Clears?
« on: Sun, 25 December 2016, 01:44:06 »
I have been wanting to make a nice tactile ergo-clear board for awhile. I bought a few MX Clears and swapped the springs out for MX Blue springs and I really like how they feel.

Now I am wanting to switch swap these MX Blues in a Quickfire Rapid to either Ergo-Clears or Zealios. I like how the few ergo-clears I made feel but I like the the advantages of Zealios.

I have heard that the bump on the Zealios is not as large as ergo-clears which is worrying to me as Clears are not super tactile in the first place. Is the different very noticeable?

Thanks and merry christmas

I haven't tried ergo clears, but I have a stock clear switch just for testing and to me, the Zealios bump is plenty tactile in comparison (if not even more pronounced) and smoother. But I can't give you a 100% comparison since of course I haven't tried a whole keyboard of clears. I have a 62g and 67g Zealios board for reference and the 65g is the same stem, so the tactility should be close in similarity.

I have the 67g Zealios on my Sentraq that I use as my primary at home. I have a Whitefox that I put 60g and 62g  springs in the ring/pinky finger keys and left the heavier "65g" (more like 75g!) stock springs in the rest (see sig link).

Zealios feel lighter even between 67g and 78g that i'm using, significantly less bottom out force to me. They also have a feeling that I can only describe as a washboard when you're typing and not just hyper focused on single key presses. The clears seem to be  much more 'bump' on the upstroke to me and aside from them both being considered "tactile" I tend to think they are very different switches.

If you took clears and swapped in the light weight 35g? blue switches and you like the way that "ergo" clear feels... then go with that.
