For those wondering, future retail sales will be priced lower for kits, and as we continue to bring in new parts, we're also looking to adding to the line as well.

Hey JChan,

So will the March kits be full kits and priced lower than the ~500ish we will see today?

I just remembered Jchan mentionning a "surprise" being sent to everyone once the GB is done. Did we ever get news on that? I'm curious now.

Think I'll try a for a secondary plate and pcb to go with my neglected nylon base.
Which plate would complement box navy feels more, aluminum or brass?

Future kits will not be "a la carte" unfortunately. Trying to condense complexity as was in the GB

5 Top Options
6 Base Options
2 Plate Options
2 PCB Options

= A lot of custom options, but takes a lot longer to manage

Sorry! But I think the options will be good.

For those wondering, future retail sales will be priced lower for kits, and as we continue to bring in new parts, we're also looking to adding to the line as well.

Hey JChan,

Definitely cheaper for those kits ~

Those will be sent out in a month or two, as I'm still in the middle of preparing them. I think you'd be happy with them, once they are ready. So maybe post about it mid march? Should be ready by then :)

Oh, and extra's will be on sale mid next week, after we complete an inventory.

How the sale will be conducted:

- Not As Kits
- Pick your Part, like you want it.

For example, you will have all of these parts to choose from, some more limited than others.

- A Stock Top Black
- A Stock Top Rose Gold
- A Stock Top Champagne
- B Stock Bottom Black
- Hydro Blue Plate
- Black Plate
- Weight
- Feet
- PCB

etc etc.

There are no complete kits sold for this. You can to assemble you kit as you see fit, and opt for anything you want.

Other colors will come out at retail pricing, but as complete kits. I'm hoping to improve the ecosystem of the M65A by trying to stock parts for it on an ongoing basis for a little while.

A complete A stock kit is : $430 - $500, the upper scale being if you opt for qmk, brass plate, and aluminum bottom.

For those interested in comparing the pricing, the $500 unit was $305 during the GB.

--

If you have any questions, just send it to support@keyclack.com ; thanks and have a good rest of your weekend everyone.

Thanks Jchan,
So if I buy only the top case+pcb+plate+feet, I won't get any screws since it's not a full kit?

I'm sorry, I'm feeling particularly dense for not understanding. I appreciate your patience.

So if we wait until March we can get a full M65-A kit (top, base, plate, pcb, weight, feet, we build ourselves) for less than buying them part by part today? Will is still be A-stock? Will there be any differences other than just having to wait longer?

They're different colors from the GB. Depends on your preference. You may, or may not like the colors.

A-Stock

The retail units will only be available with Brass Plates, so no alu plate option at this stage.

Do we know what colors for the march batch will be?

Debating waiting now...especially if we get a slightly darker space grey :D

So if we want OG color we will at least want to buy a top plate today. There will still be the plastic bottom right? And will the brass weight be the same?

Brass plates are polished?

Thank you for all of the info Jchan, it is really appreciated

Used PayPal for base and it said it couldn’t process when I completed the order.  But I have an email from PayPal preauthorizing the payment.  Wonder what will happen

I'm upset that placing an item in the cart does not secure the item for you to purchase so that by the time my address is filled out I can no longer purchase the item I had in my cart. I hope that Keyclack can change that.

pre-auth won't go through, the pre-auth will fall off the account and no purchase will have been made, and no product will be purchased.

Oh well, easy come easy go.

Thank you Keyclack for authorizing my bank account for $500 dollars every time I tried to checkout but one of the items had become out of stock and the transaction failed. Now I can't buy one of these because my account is tied up $2500 in authorizations

Furious with Keyclack right now.

Edit: Keyclack was able to void the transaction, but the authorization activity flagged as fraud to my bank and I had to call them to get that resolved before I can even access the money. RIP any of the M56-A options I wanted.

The charge is a pending charge, and has been voided. You'll see it shortly, but I'm unaware on the timeline.

Just wondering, the people who are ordering full kits, are they getting the pretty retail box or it's going to be chucked into a cardboard box with bubble wrap and a keyclack business card?

Kits will be in a box.

All pieces will be individually wrapped with bubble wrap, and the box will be full and won't shake pieces around.

I fell asleep and got on about a half hour after the sale started. I was able to order all the options I wanted. Of course it was for the space gray. I guess it was mad dash to get the limited colors. Anyway, I can't wait for it to arrive!!  :D

Hmm, I tried to  get a space gray bottom about 4 min after it started, there was 1 left, I added it to cart and checked out with paypal to find it was sold out.  So, someone was living an alternate timeline

The Keyclack merchant system doesn't secure Items placed in cart, so items in your cart can still be purchased by someone else while you are checking out. The Keyclack Merchant will also authorize your paypal the full amount of the purchase when you select your paypal as the Payment Method, but before you place your order. Even if you decide not to place the order and remove all items from the cart, your paypal will still have an authorization for the full amount.

I made an order for a top, a pcb and a plate, but then decide to add another order for feet, weight, etc.. Could the two orders be combined (reduce some shipping cost)?

Not sure what the PayPal authorization thing is, I couldn't check out and had 2 emails from PayPal saying that I authorized 2 payments of $400+ to Keyclack yet nothing shows up in my orders and funds have been taken from my PayPal account Q_Q

An authorization is a theoretical “transaction” a merchant processor charges to an account in order to verify that it is an active ‘funded’ account before attempting an actual transaction across it. Typically a processor will authorize between $1-$10 that typically falls off your account at the time of the actual transaction. If the authorization fails then the system knows the account can’t process the actual transaction and the transaction is declined. Sometimes authorizations will take time to fall off. There is no reason Keyclack should process an authorization for the full amount of the transaction that is being authorized for, not only is it radical overkill, but it can, and in Keyclack’s situation does, take time to fall off, and then if you don’t have enough money after the authorization to process the actual transaction you can have the whole thing fail just because you didn’t expect to need twice the amount of the purchase you are trying to make.

Wow, didn't know that was the process. I emailed Jchan and awaiting a response to hopefully get my money back and be able to place an order since I don't have 2x the amount of an M65 in my PayPal.

You will definitely get the money back, authorizations always fall off and never actually come out of your bank account. Jchan definitely can void the authorization to make that happen sooner though. Typically you shouldn't need to worry about the 2x cost thing because the auth should fall off at the same time the transaction completes, but it doesn't always happen that way. Jchan will be able to get it straightened out for sure!

The authorization is an authorization to proceed with the payment. Since our site is a custom build, you have to authorize us to charge you X amount.

Once you hit place order, the order is confirmed with our site (our backend), and your payment is charged and collected.

So you can have an authorization, without an order, but then that auth will be voided as it isn't confirmed by our site, so the charge won't post. If you used a card of any sort, the payment is left "Pending", but not "Charged". These are states in the payment processor.

--

To put in simple terms, this is a situation which I am aware of, and we'll fix it. Unfortunately, the circumstances of 'FCFS' sales, don't help this in anyway.

Regarding cart locking and such: this is a case which is hard to tackle because there are two sides of the coin. On one side, someone who has something in their cart, prevents someone else from getting it. Assuming they do not proceed in X time, the logical step is to put that item back into the inventory for sale. However, it's hard to say that this is fair because what if someone else wanted it, but it was cart locked, then thrown back into the inventory, then someone else can get it who could have had it first.

By having it be "First to check out", the problem is somewhat mitigated. It isn't the most elegant solution, but it helps the people who can check out faster, get it first.

It's interesting to see the mechanics of ecommerce come into play, and I'd love to hear your opinion about which way to go. It's hard to make completely fair, but hopefully there's a way to make it more fair.

So I really wanted in on this but $160 shipping kills it. That’s nearly 40% of the cost plus then another £175 in customs making this an $800 board.

I’ve always been in the camp of adding to cart locks the item in, with a time limit, so you can’t get cart sniped, especially if you put it in your cart first but have a longer address, or something equally banal like needing to sign into PayPal. But I would be very interested to hear other people’s perspectives
