Apple Keyboard "with numeric keypad" key travel spec
« on: Sun, 08 January 2017, 02:14:28 »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much the key travel for this board measures in mm? I can't seem to find anything specific and "low-profile" doesn't cut it.

Thanks!

Sorry mate, could you be a bit more specific? Apple made loads of keyboards with a numpad.
Check my keyboard video reviews:

Apple has also used the Apple Keyboard moniker a couple of times for whatever the current model is that they ship with a Mac.

But I'm guessing that you mean the aluminium-frame chiclet varieties they had before "Apple Magic Keyboard".
I don't have any fancy equipment but I measure mine to 1.85 mm with regular calipers: clamp it pressing a key, zero, then progressively try to move the keyboard inside the calipers and see what is the smallest gap I could use.

@chyros I should have been more specific. I was hoping the quotation marks gave it away, though. "Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad" is the generic name that Apple officially gives its current wired keyboard.

@Findecanor Tack så mycket! That's exactly what I was looking for, and good enough for me. Now I know that 1.85 mm is the bare minimum that I can at least tolerate (if I must!)

Apple's efforts to reduce key travel beyond this are absolutely unacceptable. I was looking at a non-Apple keyboard that measured 2mm, and so I wondered if the Apple wired keyboard is more or less than that amount!
