How much does a Northgate Omnikey 102 SKCM blue go for?
« on: Thu, 26 January 2017, 05:57:20 »
I've a Northgate Omnikey 102 Blue Alps keyboard that I don't use. I bought it off of eBay just over a year ago for $220 and immediately disliked them compared to my Model F. I think because they get scratchy after dust gets into the switches...? I've cleaned out a couple switches by taking all the tiny metal leaflets out of the switches and it seemed to have made no difference in keystroke feel.

I haven't seen one for sale in a while and am just wondering how much I could get out of it. Maybe a donor board or to use as its fully functional.

Thank you.

If they feel crap they probably are, and the switches will be badly used or dirty, in which case the value drastically diminishes. In the condition was mint condition you could probably bag $300 for it if you tried.

Chyros gets amazing keyboards for pocket change.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Model F is also very stiff competition.

They aren't too bad. I guess thats up to you or someone who has experienced another blue alps to decide. I could send you photoso if you really are keen. Its been sitting in storage since.

If you just want a wad of dough for it without having to worry about the condition of the switches it's probably best to just eBay list it and let the blue Alps craze do the work for you ;) .
