Gateron white vs clear
« on: Thu, 26 January 2017, 19:05:14 »
I'm considering getting an Ergodox EZ and I'm trying to find information about their Gateron White switches. They're linear with a low actuation force of 35g. I can't find much about these switches but it seems some sources (and switch testing kits) have a switch with the same description listed as Gateron Clears. Are the Gateron Whites and Clears the same thing? And I'd be interested in anyone's thoughts about the Whites in general.

They are referred to as the same thing. They are 35g actuation linear switches. I had some on a switch tester before and they felt so light. For myself they felt too light and I would make so many typos on a board full of them.
However, they are very smooth :).

Thanks! I'm getting a switch tester with a Gateron Clear so that should work to try out. I thought I might want something light to help RSI issues. Probably I'll end up with the Gateron Reds though as many people seem to like those.

Yea Gateron reds are a bit heavier. However,  they are still a tad lighter than Cherry MX red. They bottom out at 55g vs cherry red 62g. So they are a great option, but try both clear and red :D.
