Office Tenkeyless 75% For Hotdesking
« on: Sun, 29 January 2017, 10:03:08 »
Hi there, I'm currently designing a hot desking environment and I'm looking for something quite specific.  I though this would be the best place to ask ;)

What I need though is a small footprint keyboard preferably with these features:

Wired & Powered
X2 or more USB ports
Quiet Keys
Non mechanical is fine, reliable is essential
Attractive 75% Tenkeyless format
Not too expensive

thanks in advance.

I think this would work better in the Marketplace as a [WTB] listing, https://geekhack.org/index.php?board=59.0

Unfortunately, built-in USB hubs are not that common.

It is perfectly all right to ask for what model that would have certain features that you are looking for. People do thathere all the time. Once you know what model you want then is often the time to open a WTB thread. It is not prudent to open a WTB thread without specifying exactly what you want.

There's also the Das TKL with browns. Don't know about the bottom out sound, though.

I was going to recommend the KBP V80 with Matias Quiet Click switches. Great at work, still has that ALPS feel or solid key presses. It's TKL so it will fit in your bag to bring home every day. And its under 100 dollars new, probably easy enough to find one for 40 pounds or so if you look around.

I use a drevo gramr 75% with outemu browns and o rings when hot desking (which is the worst idea ever from an employee standpoint). Switches are alright, and it's as quiet as many of the membrane boards around the office. Keycaps are hideous but cheap pbt replacements make it nicer. Why did I choose this? Because it's dirt cheap and I don't care if anything happens to it while lugging it around every day.

If I had no permanent desk, i'd probably be using a 60% to be honest. Using the Fn for arrows and backspace or F1-12 keys is really intuitive and you dont even think about it after a couple hours of use. Its really the home/end and pg up/dn and print screen options that I have to remember where i put them but you dont tend to use those nearly as often and the 60% board will save you a ton of space for carrying it around.
