This one ships worldwide, although it includes the processing unit and shipping is extremely expensive.

I take you're after the ALPS keyboard, which I don't have. But if you want the membrane one, PM me.
My opensource projects: GH80-3000, TOAD, XMMX. Classified: stuff

Yeah, I want the Alps keyboard. I've been looking for browns for a while, but I want a clean one.

Usually just from inexperience. They don't realize the only difference is adding a little slip of paper stating the package's contents and value. (The buyer pays the extra shipping, of course.)

Not quite as bad—but deceptive and exploitative, IMHO—is when sellers opt for eBay's so-called Global Shipping Program. How nice of eBay, they think: I just send my item to a place in the eastern US, and eBay forwards it to my overseas buyer.

What they may or may not realize, though, is that the buyer is then charged to ship the package to the forwarding center; then charged again to ship it from the US, plus a "service fee" for the great effort of putting a new label on it and dropping it back in the mail. This can increase by 30–40% what's probably already a painful shipping charge.

What's more, eBay doesn't go out of their way to explain this to anyone before the sale (and they certainly don't explain how easy it is not to use it). I once made the mistake of having something subject to the GSP sent to me here in Canada, and couldn't understand why I was suddenly paying over $20 more to receive a $50 item. And eBay finds yet another way to squeeze money out of their users.

To be fair, Ebay does make it clear to the overseas buyer what the shipping cost will be.  Unless I am missing something.

I think the GSP ones from the US to the UK are generally cheaper than the alternative ones. Might be mistaken, but that's the impression I always got.

Well, $89, not bad. It was a very clean looking example, though.

To be fair, Ebay does make it clear to the overseas buyer what the shipping cost will be.  Unless I am missing something.

You're missing something.

I usually have packages sent to our mailbox in WA state, since we're lucky enough to live within driving distance of the Canada/U.S. border. But if I select "Canada" and enter a Canadian postal code on an eBay listing, I'm shown only the cost of shipping the item from the U.S. to Canada—not the needless extra domestic shipping, nor  the extra "handling charge" for the privilege of having the same item shipped twice.

The actual amount you pay isn't shown till you've committed to buying the item and are placing your order.

eBay's page "explaining"  their Global Shipping Program doesn't make this clear, either. It just shows a token item being purchased, with an unrealistically low total shipping charge (and no mention of the extra "handling" charge).

These pictures even imply that eBay repacks items (e.g. for safer shipping). Wrong—they just slap new labels on them; labels sellers could've printed themselves.

It's greedy, sneaky, and disappointing to those of us who've used and trusted eBay for years and years.
