New Guy

Hi All,

New guy here.  Occasional lurker and dilettante -- I registered an account so I can participate in a GB  ;)

I'm a crap typist but I'm a developer so I spend all day typing.  I've been using mechanical KBs for around 2 years -- but just random things I got on Amazon with what may or may not be authentic Cherry browns.  Now I'm finally getting into it enough that I'm building my own.  The downward spiral has started!

I'm replying mostly to get my first post out of the way.

But since your're reading this, and you're a developer, I'll ask a question. Do you ever use the numpad keys? 3D modeling with Blender makes frequent use of them so I'm looking at different input devices that will help me with Blender 3D and various CAD packages.

At work I have a ten-keyless so no, I don't use the numpad :)

I would almost go to a 60% except for the fact that I need a handful of the function keys for using the debugging functionality in my IDEs.  I know I could rebind the IDE to different keys other than function keys, or I could just live with the Fn keys in layers.  But I don't want to.

So I got in on this RedScarf II.b drop (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/red-scarf-ii-ver-b-custom-mechanical-keyboard-kit).  Since the only thing I use Fn keys for is my IDE, I'm going to make/have made some artisan keys for the function row that correspond to the icons usually used to represent debugging.
