I admit, American marches are the best..
« on: Wed, 08 March 2017, 04:33:16 »
I have always been a fan of 18th to early 20th century Military marches, particularly the Prussian/German ones. Now I've discovered AMERICAN marches. OK, they're better.

My Favourite so far: Bravura  by Charles E. Duble (2:21)

(Dont know why they use the Prussian Army as a thumbnail but whatever)

Kubrick used that one to great effect in Dr Strangelove.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

I haven't really listened to many, but this was my regiment's one.

Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

I've always been partial to the Russian marches.
I typed this post on my Slanck. I also developed a stronger, cleaner, easier handwiring method.

Anything Russian is obviously the best.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.
