Cherry MX Silent (mini-review after long-term use)
« on: Tue, 11 April 2017, 14:23:05 »
I've had my MX Silent Reds (Pink stem) in a Filco TKL for about 3 months now.

I can't speak for how they feel with stock keycaps because I've had an SA profile set on it from the beginning.

I really really dig the way this board feels with SA keycaps; very satisfying.  And although I can't figure out why, they are especially nice when I typed with heavy hand.  I guess it's the satisfying slight cushion when bottoming out.

If you need quiet and you tend to type on the heavy side, this should be a nice switch for you.  :thumb:

Now I need to try some silvers!  Just need someone to get them in stock.

Did you experience any hand fatigue at first?

Actually I did have fatigue. I had to learn how to type differently on them.  I don't know why, but I can't type like on a normal switch with accuracy.  The force curve feels very different from reds to me.    If I try to type without bottoming out, yes it is fatiguing.  They are a unique experience that I would recommend over other switches only if you need something quiet.

Yeah I'm typing on silent reds now actually. :D

I like them so far, but I would also like to try the speed switches out.
