Are there any TKL aluminum cases still available?
« on: Tue, 20 June 2017, 00:11:59 »
I have looked at buying a new keyboard and want to buy a TKL keyboard with cherry mx clears. One of my desires is to purchase one which has compatibility with an aluminum case because I think aluminum cases are really nice.

I have been looking at the KBParadise V80 and the KUL ES-87 but leaning towards the V80 since it appears it is compatible with some aluminum cases. On a side note, can a KBParadise V80 be mounted in an aluminum case designed for a Filco TKl?

However, when I look on mechanicalkeyboards.com, I find some tex cases but they are all out of stock in any color I would be interested in (Silver, Grey, or Black, nothing too bold).

Anyways, are there any aluminum cases for TKL keyboards available? Or are there any cherry mx clear tkl boards that come with an aluminum case already?

My budget is not super defined for this, but I am not really looking on going full custom, but I would consider it if it was my only option.

I have this one and was pleasantly surprised by the quality, and the fact it offers a detachable USB cable solution included in the price.

If you're interested, I happen to have a Corsair K65 new in the box which I'm not using and was planning on posting to eBay later today. I could swap out the switches to white but it would take me a few days. (The  eBay posting from the let message isn't mine)

Sorry for multiple posts, but you can also look st the Clueboard - 66%,  not a true TKL but its currently my daily driver and I love it. Very nicely made with tons of layout options.

Thanks for the link! Are the cases for a filco and a KBParadise V80 the same? I only ask because I really want cherry mx clears on my board and the Majestouch-2 does not seem to come in clears. They look very similar in pictures, both having a scroll led and num lock led.

I actually already own one of these lol. I am looking for a TKL for work since I need to frequently use home, end, pg up, and pg dn and it is kinda painful on a 60%.

Sorry, not really interested. I actually have a K65 RGB that I want to get rid of because of the worn keycaps and awful non replaceable bottom row. I actually refuse to use that keyboard now. I want my next tkl to be compatible with the SA carbon set I am buying on massdrop rigth now and I also like the high quality aluminum cases which others have posted links to.

This looks like a really awesome board, but does not appear to be available in clears. That aluminum case included by default looks nice. Grrrr, I wish more boards were available with clears, cause it would make my venture a lot easier.

That looks really awesome, but I really need a tkl to have those dedicated home and end buttons. I love those slightly better than 60 percent keyboards though, why can't I just have them all?

You can,  that's why I love the custom layouts! I have a layer button that outs arrows where my fingers rest (ijkl) and I assigned Y/P as home and end & U/O as pgup pgdn. I also have my arrow keys mapped so a layer sets them as home end pgup pgdn

I honestly don't know but the shop owner could. You might want to PM them.

I only ask because I really want cherry mx clears on my board and the Majestouch-2 does not seem to come in clears.
You could always desolder the switches from a Filco and replace them with the clears of your liking.

I pmed the seller. I would really rather not desolder if possible, but may have to if that is my only option.

IKBC MF-87 keyboards are aluminum and have the switches that you are interested in.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone, they were really helpful. However, I ended up just snapping up a KUL ES-87 with 65g Zealios and clipped cherry stabilizers on mechmarket, I just could not resist.

This board does not have an aluminum case, nor one available, but the Zealios switches and a high quality plastic case should be great!
