Removing Plate-Mounted Outemu Switch Tops
« on: Mon, 03 July 2017, 15:03:14 »
Hi friends.  Long time lurker, first time poster here.

I have this Drevo Gramr super-cheap keyboard that I am tinkering with.  I've read a number of reports in which users say that it has Outemu switches.  I want to remove the switch tops to install an upstroke silencing mod, but I cannot determine how, or if it is even possible.

The switches have north-facing LED's and are plate-mounted, soldered to the board.  Do any of you have experience with disassembling this switch, or is it futile due to the plate mounting?  Thanks for your help.

It looks from the one picture on amazon without caps that you won't be able to get the switch tops off without desoldering. A straight-on picture of the board without caps would help determine for sure.

Hi and welcome.

Unfortunately you can't remove the switch top because, indeed, the Outemu switches aren't made for that, and anyway the plate is not cut out to allow it either.
