Bondwell B310 keyboard matrix
« on: Wed, 26 July 2017, 19:04:02 »
I have a bondwell b310 keyboard that im trying to get the keyboard matrix of. I have been able to get the rows of the matrix, or the pin for the top left of each switch but can't seem to get the colums or bottom right pin of each switch of the matrix to register even with the multimeter probes switched. This post had a similar problem but no one awnsered it. https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=13488.0

Disclaimer: I doubt this will work.

Try setting the multimeter to "Diode test" instead of resistance (or continuity) and run your checks again - and you're right to swap the probes around to check both ways.

Almost forgot - your readings will be different. The no-go direction will read zero and the go direction will probably read about 0.6. Basically just look for a change in the display. If it changes from zero - well, that's it.

Wow that worked!  How come though, because isn't the same as a continuity test but with a measurement for diodes? Also do I need to get a pin layout for keys when the shift or function key is pressed, or Would that be reconized by the software I use. And is there a micro controller with 30 io pins or a way to fit the 30 pin layout on a decreased amount of pins. Thanks for your help

Basically the meter when it's in the "diode test" position puts out more power than continuity or resistance. Don't worry about shift or function, the only info you need is the physical switch layout. Your programming will take care of the rest.

Can't tell you about controllers. Time for someone else to chime in. Glad I could help.
